Certified Veterinary Practice Manager on our Team
What is CVPM? The certification program was designed by the VHMA (Veterinary Hospital Manager Association) in 1989. To be able to sit for the exam, 3 years of practice experience in select duties are required as well as numerous college semester hours in management-related courses, plus 48 hours of management-focused CE, and 4 letters of recommendation. The exam tests candidate’s knowledge in Human Resources, Law and Ethics, Marketing, Organization of the Practice, and Finance. Recertification is required every 2 years.
Mira, how was the experience?
The journey was exciting but stressful. I love that I met so many different people who were on the same path pursuing their CVPM. I would recommend to every practice manager out there to pursue it. It’s not so much about the title as it is being about the knowledge you gain in areas you might have had very little knowledge of. For me the biggest struggle was law, but on my test, it came back as one of the strongest. I guess the studying paid off!
